Often, the pot will be split into two pots. One will be for the best hand, and the other will be for the lowest hand. An odd chip will be given to the highest hand by suit. Another round of betting will follow, and the pot will be re-distributed.

There are many variations of the game. However, the basic rules of poker apply across the board. As with all games, the goal of poker is to create the best possible hand. A winning hand can be achieved by using the correct strategy and playing the right cards at the right times. If you are the first player to call, you are the opener. Depending on the variant of poker, you can hide other cards before you open your hand. Normally, the house dealer shuffles the cards. Occasionally, the player with the jacks or better is the first to deal, but this is not always the case.

To make the smallest bet, you can simply match the bet of another player. Or, you can choose to raise the amount of the bet. Regardless of which choice you make, your opponent has the option to raise or fold.
